Substrate Preparation

Our conveyors are specifically designed for transporting substrate for the BSF industry. The design is such that the conveyor can be opened at the top to allow for cleaning to comply with hygiene standards as well as allowing one to  easily remove stoppages caused by high fiber organics, plastics or other materials that can wrap around the shaft and screw and create drag. These units are custom made to accommodate your volumes. Power requirement is 3 phase 400v but this can be changed to single phase 220v by means of a VSD. The VSD also give you the advantage of being able to control the speed of the conveyor to suit your transfer rate. These units are manufactured in 304 grade stainless steel.  - we offer the full processing line from picking belts, shredders, mixing tanks, storage silos and automated bin filling.

Organic Shredding

We offer custom built shredders from 2 ton per hour up too 5 ton per hour. Our smaller shredders are aimed at the start-up facilities and are cost effective to allow you to start your project and then grow - when you are ready.
We can customize the blade configuration to suit the waste type from large items to small, with uniform teeth blades or snaggle tooth for the larger items – this prevents bridging in the cutting chamber and can keep your process running smoothly.
Our units are easy to maintain and replacing broken blades is a simple task as the cutter chamber can be split with ease to remove the cutters and replace the damaged one’s.

Ribbon Blenders 

Ribbon blenders are ideally suited for mixing feed, and they have the advantage in that they shear the medium during the mixing process to ensure 100 % mixing. Ribbon blenders fold the feed and bring it to the center of the blender to the outlet and due to the ribbon's small clearance from the shell of the blender they leave very little feed remaining in the blender which minimizes wastage and cleaning time. 
Blender specifications are as follows: ·  
  • Agitator ribbons have been pitched in the opposite direction to one another to ensure the most effective mixing takes place in the shortest period.
  • Centre bottom discharge through Knife Shut off valve. 
  • Double reduction helical gear speed reducer 
  • Safety microswitch on main lid to stop the blender should the lid be opened during mixing – mesh cover can also be supplied on request.
  • Direct online starter and overload ·
  • All wetted parts manufactured in grade 304 stainless steel including stand. 
  • Inside surfaces polished to 180 grit for easy cleaning.
  • Dimpled jacket for heating with steam and insulated (PT100) if required.
  • Technical Specifications: Ribbon Blender Sizes:  250 Lt - 500 Lt -1000 Lt - 3000 Lt or larger on request. Our blenders have proven themselves in the BSF Industry over the years, both in South Africa and the USA.   

Formulated Nursery Feed Dispenser

This filler is specifically designed for formulated feed. The filler works on a 2-stage step to assure accurate
filling. The weight is controlled with a load cell and adjusted on the batch controller.
Technical Specifications:

  • The filler makes use of a loadcell platform as a metering method to shut off when setpoint is achieved.
  • Filling can be done by positive displacement pump.
  • The filler speed is controlled by the drive and PLC, which is adjustable from 0 to full speed.
  • The touch-screen HMI, gives control to the user over the various functions: volume, speed, and parameter settings device for accurate filling.
Our nursery feed dispenser requires compressed air for the pneumatics. The system is usually connected directly to the mixer, be that a ribbon blender or paddle mixer and we then pump directly to the filler head and into the nursery tubs, so they are ready to set the baby larva. Tri-clover clamps are used to enable easy stripping and cleaning after the operation has been completed for the shift.  

Stainless Steel Tanks 

 Stainless Steel Tanks are best suited for
the processing and storage of substrates.
These tanks can be customized 
according to their use allowing add-ons
such as mixers, manholes, stairs with a
platform, spray balls, and breathers are
available.  
We have developed mixing tanks specifically for moisture content management of substrate prior to bin setting. Our tanks have the correct angle on the bottom cone to avoid bridging of the substrate in the tank which often results in operational stoppages. We install a gate stirrer in the tank that folds the substate during mixing.
Tanks can be supplied with the heating jacket if required and load cells.
Tanks are manufactured from 304 stainless steel with a motor mounted on the top to drive the gate stirrer and two half lids so one can look inside. An ammeter can be mounted on the motor control board, and this allows one to gauge the moisture content during mixing process with a fair degree of accuracy.
